Bearings Worksheet

Bearings are a measure of direction, with North taken as a reference. If you are travelling North, your bearing is 000°, and this is usually represented as straight up on the page.
If you are travelling in any other direction, your bearing is measure clockwise from North. This MEP resource from CIMT is taken from text book 8A which covers the mathematics scheme of work for the first half of year 8. Angles, bearings and maps covers: measuring angles and naming different angles, angles on parallel lines; vertically opposite angles, corresponding angles, alternate angles, supplementary angles, bearings and scale drawings. The initial file forms part of the textbook. The activities sheet, extra exercises and mental tests compliment the work covered in the textbook. The overhead slides can be used on an interactive whiteboard. Alongside the pupils' material there are lesson plans which outline the content of the unit, these are differentiated into three levels, ST, A and E as well as suggested routes through them. HEALTH and SAFETY. Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
